Idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis
flat, white spots; found mostly on the shins, forearms, face, neck, and shoulders; associated with sun exposure and aging
Cutis rhomboidalis nuchae
altered appearance to the back of the neck that is caused by prolonged sun exposure that disrupts the dermis and thickens the epidermis
Freckle
a flat, tan spot on sun-exposed skin; usually appears at a very young age; likely to fade in the winter
Antihistamine
a medication that blocks histamine, thereby blunting the allergic reaction; useful as anti-itch treatment
Solar elastosis
loose, sagging skin caused by sun damage to the supportive collagen and elastin fibers within the skin
Melasma
a skin condition characterized by tan to brown spots of discoloration; usually occurs on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, and jawline; associated with hormonal factors as well as increased sun exposure
